Florida’s Parliament House Resort Faces Foreclosure

A well known gay hotel and entertainment complex known as the Parliament House is facing foreclosure according to a television website. The 130 room hotel located in downtown Orlando, Florida is currently under receivership and could be closed if the complex owners cannot meet the terms of the loan they have arranged with the bank.

Built in 1960, and opened as a gay retreat in the 1975 the establishment was the precursor to the Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Community Center of Central Florida and the Orlando Gay Chorus got its start in the resort’s piano room.

The owners of the resort, Don Granatstein and Susan Unger in 2003 spent $2 million to remodel the resort and rebuilt its reputation.The Parliament House just celebrated their 35th anniversary in July.

The establishment has many times been the focus of debate within the Orlando community ranging from prostitution being conducted in the rooms to sex orgies taking place inside the rooms with the curtains and doors left open for all to see.
